O God,
our strength in adversity,
our health in weakness,
our comfort in sorrow,
be merciful to your people.
 
Hear our prayers for the suffering people of Asia:
the victims of the flooding in the Philippines,
the earthquake in Indonesia,
the tsunami and earthquake in Samoa.
 
Receive those who have died into your embrace,
and comfort those who mourn.
Give courage and new hope
to all whose livelihood has been swept away,
and to all who must begin the difficult task
of rebuilding homes and communities.
 
May they feel your love
through the compassion and care of the whole world.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.
