The dress rehearsal was in the morning, the performance in the afternoon. Here are pictures from both! ![]() At the beginning of the performance, St. Gregory and St. Cecilia sing some songs that tell the story of Daniel. ![]() The two storytellers enter to begin the Play of Daniel. ![]() ![]() Royal princesses get lined up. ![]() Daniel's friends getting ready for the play to begin. ![]() The Hebrew children in the fiery furnace sing a canticle praising God. ![]() The king enters. ![]() Here are the King's Advisors, bringing in the holy vessels stolen from the Hebrew temple. ![]() ![]() Suddenly, while the feast goes on, mysterious writing appears on the wall. Everyone is terrified. ![]() The king's wizards can't figure out what the writing means. ![]() ![]() The Queen recommends that the king summon Daniel. ![]() Daniel will know what this strange writing means! ![]() ![]() Daniel explains the writing on the wall. ![]() He is rewarded with gold and jewels! He and his friends take back the vessels stolen from the temple. ![]() But the king's evil counselors are envious of Daniel. They persuade the king to decree that anyone caught praying to God will be punished. Daniel refuses to obey this unjust law. ![]() While Daniel is in the den of lions, his friends grieve. "Heu, heu!" ![]() The king is sad to see his friend Daniel in the den of lions. ![]() After an angel miraculously rescues Daniel, the evil counselors themselves are thrown to the lions. ![]() BRAVO, everyone!
