O God who reigns in heavenly splendor, you have broken the silence through the revelation of your Word, Jesus Christ.... Assembled here together, we shatter the silence with our shared prayer. ![]() Bishop Joseph Tyson, Auxiliary Bishop of Seattle, and Bishop Vinton Anderson, A.M.E., in the Cathedral Chapel prior to the service. ![]() Bishop Vinton R. Anderson, Bishop (Retired) of the AME Church and past President of the World Council of Churches, preached at the service. ![]() The Chancel Choir of First AME Seattle sings "Solid Rock" under the direction of Juan Huey-Ray. ![]() Representatives of different denominations gather around the font for the prayers of intercession. ![]() After each prayer, the water each denominational representative brought from their own font to tonight’s service was poured into the baptismal pool as a sign of our common baptism in Christ: "There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, there is one God, the creator of all." ![]() Servers from St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral joined St. James' servers in assisting at the liturgy. ![]() At the conclusion of the service, all the clergy present encircle the altar and pronounce over the people the ancient blessing of Aaron: "May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord’s face shine upon you and may the Lord be gracious to you. May the Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace!" Download the program for tonight's service here. Photos by M.
